PURPOSE:  A bedside presence of specifically trained Christian volunteers taking 2-hour shift with touch, prayer, Scripture, music, poems, and appropriate conversation with an actively dying person: (1) where no family members are present, or (2) family members are en route from afar, or (3) family members need to rest.

WHY:  No one should have to die alone when they can more comfortable "graduate" into God's full presence of peace and love.

WHO:  A pool of caring volunteers from Grace UMC who are specifically trained in non-medical comfort (palliative) care of dying persons.

WHEN:  A person identified as actively dying would be eligible for the Sacred Journey team's presence when the criteria under the above PURPOSE are met.  Phone calls to Pastor Tom's 24-hour cell phone 913-706-1206 are appropriate for more information.
