Provides networking, job search education and brainstorming about the KC employment market.
Grace United Methodist Church is proud to sponsor an active Career Transition Group on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 8:30 a.m. in Room 222. As Kansas City’s employment market grows more challenging, the metro area’s job club circuit continues to grow as well. Job clubs – the more common working title for the support groups – are designed to aid area job seekers in a variety of wa
ys.
Job clubs feature some combination of networking, job search education and brainstorming related to job leads and contact strategies. Certain job clubs have developed specialties in particular aspects of the job search, such as mock interviewing or resume revision.
Job clubs are typically hosted by churches, although one of the largest and most active clubs is a twice-weekly group based at Johnson County Community College. Job seekers are cautioned to consider these nonprofit entities as job club “safe havens” that do not require fees or obligation.
