Baptism at Grace

Baptism at Grace

Baptism is the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith.

As parents bring infants to be baptized they are making a convenant with God and the church to continue to nurture this child in the loving community of the church, where they will learn what it means to be loved by God. Infant have what we call "prevenient grace". That is the grace that works in our lives before we are aware of it.

At Grace we require that you are a member or in the process of becoming one.

We also require that you attend a baptismal information session. These sessions are held every first Sunday of the month at 12:00 noon.  Pastor Nanette will meet with you and other parents about the significance of baptism and the opportunity and responsibility that you have when you have a child baptized. She will also review with you the baptism process as it pertains to the worship service. You will schedule a date for your child's baptism at this session. We try to schedule baptism on the second Sunday of the month at any of our five services. (Saturday at 5:30 p.m., Sunday at 8:00 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 10:35 a.m.-contemporary service)

It is not necessary to attend an orientation session the same month as you plan to schedule the baptism.

If you have more questions, please contact Sheila Bishop, Office Manager, by email or by phone at (913) 859-0111, ext. 206.
